Introduction
Our website is now speech-enabled using the software
called Browsealoud. It is free to download and install Browsealoud
onto your computer.
When you have installed the software, you will be able to have
this site and other Browsealoud-enabled sites read aloud to
you.

Why we have speech-enabled our website
We have speech-enabled our website to ensure that it
is accessible to as many people as possible.
Browsealoud makes websites more accessible to people who find it
difficult to read text on websites or who prefer
to listen to web content.
You can also convert text on Browsealoud-enabled websites to MP3
files. This means you can listen to the content of web pages
whenever and wherever it suits you.

How Browsealoud works
Browsealoud works by installing software onto your computer. It
is free for you to download and use Browsealoud, it is paid for by
us and other organisations and companies that have
Browsealoud-enabled their websites.
Browsealoud works on PCs and on Macs. It is updated with a new
list of enabled websites each time you connect to the Internet.
Once the software is installed, you will see a circular icon in
your system tray, at the bottom right of your screen. When the icon
displays a tick, it means the site you are accessing is speech
enabled.
Roll the cursor over the site content and the text will be
highlighted and read aloud to you. Press your Ctrl key to start or
stop Browsealoud reading. You can also access dictionary
definitions when highlighting individual words.

Customising Browsealoud
You can choose whether the voice that reads text to you is male
or female. You can also choose how quickly or slowly or how high or
low a pitch or volume Browsealoud uses.
